ABSTRACT

Between May- November 2001, Veronica installed, configured and trained users how to use an Oracle/XML Internet based software system in 3 countries within Sub-Saharan Africa for a global not-for profit organization that has projects within 30 nationalities worldwide. She also trained a cohort of learners based in 6 countries in the same region how to use WebCT and other distributed learning tools. These learners are taking an MA course in Early Childhood Development at UVic's School of Child and Youth Care via Distance Learning. The presentation will focus on the software deployment work although relevant comparisons between the two projects will be highlighted. Insights from the lessons learned through use of concrete scenarios will be discussed.
