ABSTRACT

Abstract

The utility of the Internet will be greatly enhanced based on the ability of the network to provide a broad range of Quality-of-service (QoS) guarantees. These guarantees require the use of traffic scheduling algorithms in switches and/or routers.

This seminar presents an optimization technique to develop a scheduling algorithm capable of supporting different QoS guarantees. The scheduling algorithm developed is based on the linear programming concepts and therefore, any scheduling policy it produces is guaranteed to be optimum.
