Abstract
In recent years, we observed an explosion of R&D in watermarking towards intellectual property protection of digital media. Most of the research concentrated on still image watermarking.
However, no proper benchmarking tools have been developed for assessing the performance of these techniques. Only ad hoc tools existed to this end.
In this lecture, a new tool will be presented that is based on sound theoretical and experimental basis that can be used for benchmarking watermarking algorithms.
This tool capitalizes on the experience gained at AllA lab, University of Thessaloniki, which pioneered in watermarking since the mid-nineties. The effort has been supported by the EU R&D project CERTIMARK that specializes on digital media watermark benchmarking.
