Graduation documentation

In addition to your degree parchment (diploma) these documents will also provide proof of graduation.

Degree completion letter

A degree completion letter confirms the status of your application for graduation.

International students who intend to apply for a post-graduation work permit should request this letter only after all degree requirements have been met.

Official transcript

A credential granted section will be added to your transcript on the graduation date.

Certificate of degree completion

A certificate of degree completion bears the Registrar’s signature, the university seal, and will display your program similar to the way it appears in the credential granted section on your transcript.

Common uses include proof of graduation for graduate schools, employers, agencies and international work visas.

Certificates of degree are issued after the graduation date but can be issued before the convocation ceremonies.

Certified copy of degree

UVic can prepare a certified copy of degree if you return your original degree parchment (diploma) to us.

We make a photocopy of your degree, stamp it as a true copy and attach the university seal and Registrar’s signature.

If it is difficult for you to return your degree to UVic, consider contacting a notary public to prepare a certified copy of your degree.
