Spring Convocation postponement

From Chancellor Shelagh Rogers and President Jamie Cassels

As you may have expected as ever-stricter measures are put in place due to COVID-19, the University of Victoria is postponing the Convocation ceremonies previously scheduled for June 8 to 12.

Regardless of where our students and alumni live in the world, the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting you and your family in immeasurable ways. Through this unprecedented time, our thoughts and best wishes are with you.

The recognition of students’ academic success is important to the university, and so is the opportunity to celebrate with those who have supported students through their academic journey. We all take pride in their accomplishments.

The university is working on an alternative way to honour our graduates and celebrate their achievement. We will share those plans once details have been confirmed.

We sincerely thank all our students for their patience, understanding and willingness to adapt to the ever-changing challenges of the time we are in. We send them our heartfelt congratulations on their achievements at the University of Victoria.

We look forward to celebrating with our campus community, and wish our graduating students all the very best as they embark on the next exciting phase of their lives.
