Province prioritizes fuel for essential vehicles, introduces travel restrictions

The BC provincial government is asking people to limit their fuel consumption and vehicle travel until December 1. The university encourages students, faculty and staff to plan ahead and consider alternative forms of transportation, including walking, cycling, transit or carpooling to campus while these restrictions are in place.

Supporting each other after BC storm

The University of Victoria recognizes that many members of the campus community have been impacted by the recent storm that's caused catastrophic flooding and closed roads and highways across the province. Damage and service disruptions across our region are substantial in some places. UVic is working to support the needs of students, faculty and staff who now face extraordinary challenges.

Support the United Way through food

November 16, 2021

Do you love samosas? Support the UVic United Way campaign and treat your taste buds! Drop off your order in BEC 406 by Nov. 17. For the month of November, you can also support the United Way when you dine on campus. $2 from each lunch or dinner special ordered at the University Club will go to the UVic United Way workplace campaign.

Fall reading break hours

November 9, 2021

The UVic campus will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 11 for Remembrance Day. The campus re-opens on Nov. 12. Most campus services, including Advising, Office of the Registrar, the Student Union Building (SUB) and the Bookstore will be closed on Nov. 11.

Weekend crowds on campus

November 4, 2021

Due to the increasing size and recklessness of crowds of young people on university property, the large majority of whom are not from UVic, the university and Saanich Police are taking unprecedented measures to prevent the unsafe weekend gatherings.
