Updated territory acknowledgement

The Indigenous Territory Acknowledgement that you hear spoken at UVic’s public events and gatherings, and see in our printed publications and websites, is a vital and visible way that the university honours the traditional territory of the Songhees, Esquimalt and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. This summer, the university approved the option for faculty and staff to include the acknowledgement on university stationery and business cards.

Stock-tober food drive

Stock-tober, the annual Student Affairs food drive in support of the UVSS Food Bank & Free Store, is on now until Oct. 30. The UVSS Food Bank supports hundreds of UVic graduate and undergraduate students each week. Access to nutritious food is a key element of mental and physical health, and the UVSS Food Bank & Free Store is a crucial resource for UVic students.

Statement from the President

September 16, 2019

As you return to campus this morning, I know many of you share my sense of sorrow following the devastating accident Friday night in which two UVic students were killed and several others were injured. The loss of members of our campus community in any circumstances is distressing. These bright young people were united in their desire to experience the research and learning possibilities on Vancouver Island’s west coast. My heartfelt condolences go out to them and their loved ones.
