Andrew Murray came to UVic in 1990 to do an MA. After beginning a PhD in 1992, he gradually morphed into a sessional instructor and then a continuing sessional. In 2014, he was hired as an Assistant Teaching Professor with his primary responsibilities being in the Division of Academic Writing. His doctoral dissertation (unfinished) was on representations of reading in Chaucer, but his primary focus now is teaching, particularly ENGL 101, 135, 146 and 200A.

Interests include Chaucer, the pedagogy of teaching writing and literature, contemporary fiction in English, and Arsenal FC.
