Fall 2017 Policy and Governance Forum lineup

The Forums will be held from the third week of September until November 6. The impetus behind the series is to assist students in exploring important issues outside the classroom, which enriches their knowledge and allows them to engage directly with faculty and other knowledgeable individuals.

The dates, responsible faculty and topics are shown below. Each Forum will typically be presented by three or four individuals.

  • September 18: Next Ten-Year Homelessness Strategy for Victoria - Bayla Kolk and Evert Lindquist
  • September 25: Local Strategies for Climate Change - Lynda Gagné and Astrid Brousselle
  • October 16: Canada, Europe, and Brexit - Emmanuel Brunet-Jailly
  • October 23: Ethics of dealing with vulnerable populations - Helga Hallgrímsdóttir
  • October 30: Greater Vancouver and Victoria as a Border Region - Emmanuel Brunet-Jailly
  • November 6: Towards Guaranteed Annual Income - Lindsay Tedds

The time schedule for each presentation is as follows:

  • 10:30 - 10:45 - Welcome and Panel Introduction
  • 10:45 - 11:15 - Presentation
  • 11:15 - 12:00 - Student question period
  • 12:00 - 1:00 - Lunch break, during which students collect more information on the topic
  • 1:00 - 1:45 - Students present their reflections on the topic
