Assistant or Associate Professor opportunity

The University of Victoria School of Nursing invites applications from qualified individuals for a faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The position will commence January 1, 2019, or as negotiated.  We are seeking a faculty member with a dynamic program of scholarship and research in nursing and health, and a commitment to teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate programs. Our School is committed to mentoring new and experienced faculty in the development of their academic careers.

The University of Victoria School of Nursing is a leader in undergraduate and graduate nursing education and research in partnership with educational, community and practice organizations.  The School offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) to prepare nurses to work with individuals, families, and communities, guided by health promotion principles. The BSN program is delivered through a collaborative partnership with colleges in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.  The School of Nursing also offers two graduate degrees: a PhD in Nursing and the Master of Nursing Degree (Advanced Practice / Nurse Practitioner / Double Degree in Nursing and Health Informatics). All of our graduate programs are offered through distance learning and distributed learning technologies.

The School is situated in a Faculty of Human and Social Development, a multidisciplinary faculty with a commitment to the student experience of dynamic learning in rich practice and community settings for vital impact on health and social development. Faculty researchers participate with colleagues, students, and the public in socially engaging ways and strive to integrate teaching and research at all program levels. The Faculty provides support for research development through the Faculty of Human and Social Development Research Centre.  Nursing faculty research programs focus on pedagogy, palliative care, nursing care delivery models, evidence informed practice, researcher pathway development, and community engaged research in addiction, harm reduction, and public health.
