Sheila Ryan and Eileen Ryan Awards

Eileen Brigid Ryan received her training as a nurse during the Second World War and practiced as a health care professional, in various capacities, for many decades. Her interests were to see the world and to care for people in multiple ways. She worked first in Britain and eventually settled in western Canada, working in Edmonton, Victoria and Vancouver. She worked in child care licensing and also advocated for a national child care program. She lived almost her entire adult life in the company of her dear sister Sheila Mary Ryan, who died in May 2011. The relationships Eileen made in Victoria and Vancouver continued to her life's end.
