Peter B. Gustavson Golf Award
Peter Gustavson, B.Comm. (Hons), FCA, CPA/CA, President and CEO Gustavson Capital and Founder and CEO, EncoreFX.
Peter was the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Custom House Ltd., the largest non-bank foreign exchange provider in Nmth America. Peter grew the company from a 600 square foot kiosk handling currency exchange for locals and tourists to a global business payments company with 50 branches in Australia, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States. Custom House was sold to Western Union in 2009 for USD$370 million. Prior to Custom House, Peter was a partner with Gustavson Shaffer, Chartered Accountants.
Peter is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC, a recipient of the Business Examiner Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 and Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002. Peter holds his Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Accounting and Marketing from the University of Manitoba.
Peter is a long-time friend of the University of Victoria. He served on the university's Board of Governors and the business School's Board of Advisors. He is the founding (2004) and current chair of the University of Victoria's Gustavson School of Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
In 2010 Peter made a generous gift to the University of Victoria in support of the Faculty of Business. The Peter B. Gustavson School of business was named in his honour.
