Davison Graduate Award in Germanic and Slavic Studies

Growing up during the Cold War era, Jennifer Davison was always fascinated by what lay behind the Iron Curtain. Gorbachev’s “Parade of Sovereignties” opened up this unknown region to the world and sparked a desire to learn even more about its people, culture and history. This lifelong interest in Russia and the former Soviet Union led her to pursue both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies at the University of Victoria. As the first Graduate student of the Slavic Studies program, she wanted to encourage more students to pursue degrees in Slavic Studies by first establishing the Davison Undergraduate Bursary in Germanic and Slavic Studies and then establishing the Davison Graduate Award in Russian and Slavic Studies.
