Dr. David Cook Memorial Award

Dr. David Cook

Dr David Cook was a graduate of Oxford University and came to the University of Alberta in 1967, where he remained with the Department of Pharmacology all his life.  He was a productive scientist, specializing in cerebrovascular pharmacology, and chaired his department from 1980 to 1991.  In 1990, he became the inaugural director of the University’s Division of Studies in Medical Education.  He was known internationally for his work in faculty development and curriculum design.

His interests were many and eclectic, and in particular, he was a devotee of opera and symphonic music.  In recognition of his life, the David Cook Memorial Award was created to support a student in the graduate program in Music at the University, subject to academic performance and financial need.
