Summary of duties and responsibilities

Under supervision of course instructor, performs some or all of the following: Instruct fundamental use of CAD software to create a 3D assembly, advise students on their design projects, answer questions, provide student consultation or tutorial at established hours, mark lab/project reports, keep records of project progress, and other duties related to the delivery of the course, as required.

The design project involves building a digital alarm clock radio that plays MP3 music. The purpose of the TA is to help each group from the conceptual design to the final implementation of the hardware including a printed circuit board of the amplifier.

Required qualifications and experience

Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or an acceptable equivalent. Registered as a Master or Ph.D. student in Electrical and Computer Engineering or an acceptable equivalent.

Candidates should be outgoing and creative, should enjoy spending time with students, and must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in spoken and written English. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in engineering design, teamwork, and who have diverse technical skills that include practical knowledge of and troubleshooting experience. Proficiency in computer programming (C, C++) is a must. Familiarity with Solidworks, schematic capture/PCB design software such as KiCAD, Eclipse IDE, microcontrollers such as STM F0/F4. Some training specific to the course requirements may be provided.
