About Roberto
Roberto is an assistant teaching professor of computer science at the University of Victoria, where he teaches courses in computer science and software engineering.
He holds a PhD from the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), Brazil, completed under the supervision of Professor Dalton Dario Serey Guerrero at the Software Practices Laboratory, during which he was also a guest PhD student at the University of British Columbia under Professor Gail C. Murphy. He also holds an MSc from Linköping University, Sweden, completed under the late Professor David A. Carr.
Roberto's research and teaching focus on computing education and software engineering education. Prior to joining UVic, he was a professor of computer science and engineering at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS) in Brazil, where he spent over 2 decades. During that time he founded the computer engineering undergraduate program at UEFS and served as its inaugural chair, and later became the first chair of the computer science graduate program at UEFS, where he remains a faculty member and continues to advise graduate students.
