Short Bio:

Caetano Dorea is a Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, where he leads the Public Health & Environmental Engineering (PH2E) Lab and directs the NSERC CREATE program Water and Sanitation for Low-resource Contexts (WASH Canada). Since May 2026, he has also served as Graduate Programme Director for the Department of Civil Engineering. His research focuses on water, sanitation, and public health, with particular interests in non-sewered sanitation systems, drinking water quality, environmental microbiology, and climate-resilient WASH services. He works closely with governments, NGOs, and international organizations, including UNICEF and the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme, to improve water and sanitation policies and practices in low-resource settings. His work combines laboratory, field, and implementation research across Canada, Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
