Ongoing projects

The Christie lab uses an array of sophisticated research techniques to investigate hippocampal structure and function. Several animal models are being used to study the effects of developmental disorders such as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fragile-X Syndrome on the hippocampus. The lab has recently developed a novel animal model for mild traumatic brain injury that is being used to investigate functional and structural deficits in the hippocampus following repeated injury.

Dr. Christie also supervises the UVic concussion lab, which employs established physical and cognitive assessments as well as computer programs such as NeuroTracker to investigate mild traumatic brain injury in athletes and children.
