Alexander Beckmann

Alexander received his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Leibniz Universitaet Hannover in Germany in 2014. During his undergraduate studies he worked as a TA for the course Thermodynamics II (Circular Processes & Combustion). In his bachelor Thesis 'Measurements on the local Heat Transfer Coefficient at the outer Surface of Airplane Structures' Alexander was experimentally working on Heat Transfer problems. This project was carried out in cooperation between the Institute of Thermodynamics of the Universitaet Hannover and an aircraft company.

Alexander's interest in deepening his knowledge in Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics led him to IESVIc and the research group of Dr. Henning Struchtrup. Under the supervision of Professor Struchtrup Alexander's research will be dealing with the Fluid Mechanics of Vaporization. In this context simulations based on Kinetic Theory will be conducted. The aim of his work will be the calculation of more precise condensation and vaporization coefficients.

In his free time Alexander likes to do sports and outdoor activities like climbing and hiking.
