TEM finds a new home at AMF

The Royal Jubilee Hospital has donated a TEM to the Medical Sciences Division of UVic. The TEM will be housed in the Electron Microscopy Lab at the Biology Department, which, in turn, has donated to Mechanical Engineering their old TEM Hitachi H-7000 (125 kV, W filament, 2k x 2k AMT CCD camera). The Hitachi TEM will be housed in the office of the AMF and will be used for teaching, training, medium-resolution imaging and electron diffraction. The instrument was moved on November 2nd, 2015 but some wall work will be required to gain access to the adjacient mechanical room before the re-assembly can be completed.

The instrument should become operational by the beginning of 2016.
