Métis voices speaking their truth
Media release
The Métis are often referred to as Canada’s “invisible people” – the “ghosts of the land” – whose stories haunt the country’s collective unconscious. Lii Michif Niiyanaan: We Are Métis is a one-hour documentary that addresses this invisibility by shining a new light on the historical and contemporary experience of Métis people in Canada and providing a space for Métis people to share their diverse perspectives on what it means to be Métis today.

Catalyst Conversations
The Ring
How do Greater Victoria’s post-secondary institutions work together with municipalities to benefit the region? First, you get everyone in the same room and start the conversation. On June 2, the presidents of Royal Roads University and Camosun College joined UVic President Jamie Cassels in welcoming more than 80 elected municipal officials, city managers and academic leaders from the three post-secondary institutions to an inaugural Catalyst Conversations forum that challenged participants to imagine how they could work together to benefit our region.
The spirit of Shelagh Rogers
The Ring
UVic’s new Chancellor is certainly no stranger to being in the public eye—or ear, as the case may be. Over her many years as a journalist and CBC Radio host/producer, Shelagh (after speaking to her for a few minutes, you really can’t think of her as “Ms. Rogers”) has travelled all over the country, gathering and sharing the stories of thousands of Canadians.
