Vice-President Finance & Operations — upcoming search

- President Kevin Hall

Dear colleagues:

Prior to the winter break, Gayle Gorrill announced that she will be ending her time as our vice-president finance and operations. I know that the whole university community joins me in thanking Gayle for her amazing work leading the VPFO portfolio and in wishing her well as she focuses on what the next chapter of her life holds.

Kristi Simpson has agreed to continue as acting vice-president finance and operations, and a search for a continuing appointment will be undertaken in the coming months.

Search process

In accordance with the Procedures for the Appointment of the Vice-President Finance and Operations (Policy GV0315), the University Secretary's office will begin constituting an appointment committee later this week.

The initial responsibility of the appointment committee will be to acquaint itself with the requirements of the position and establish criteria for the next appointment. Feedback from the university community will play a critical role in helping the search committee fulfill its responsibility. At this time, we are seeking your feedback on:

  • the opportunities and challenges facing the university that the new vice-president finance and operations should be prepared to address;
  • the experience, skills and attributes required of an ideal candidate;
  • and any other aspects of the role that the committee should be aware.
Please submit your feedback to the University Secretary's office at by January 31, 2022.

There will be additional opportunities for the university community to engage during the search process. Please watch for more information on the committee and the process in the weeks and months to follow.

I look forward to engaging with you in this important process.

Best regards,

Kevin Hall, PhD
President and Vice-Chancellor
