Stock-tober food drive

- Student Affairs

Stock-tober, the annual Student Affairs food drive in support of the UVSS Food Bank & Free Store, is on now until Oct. 30.

The UVSS Food Bank supports hundreds of UVic graduate and undergraduate students each week. Access to nutritious food is a key element of mental and physical health, and the UVSS Food Bank & Free Store is a crucial resource for UVic students.

Last year, we collectively raised 1114 lbs of food and other much needed non-perishable items as well as $351 in cash and grocery cards for the UVSS Food Bank & Free Store.

This year, with the help of the campus community, we are aiming to raise at least 1500 lbs.

To participate:

  • Put up a poster in your area and share this information with your colleagues.
  • Familiarize yourself with the current needs of the Food Bank (listed on the poster).
  • From Oct. 1-30, collect non-perishable donations with your co-workers.
  • Issue challenges within your unit or to other units on campus. Have fun or make it a competition if you want to, as long as it benefits the Food Bank!
  • Bring your office donations to the weigh-in at Vertigo (SUB) on Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. and see who has the biggest total this year! Last year’s top contributors were Office of the Registrar, Athletics & Recreation, and Technology Integrated Learning.
