David Strong Building re-opens

We are pleased to announce that, thanks to the tremendous efforts of Facilities Management, the heat and ventilation issues in the David Strong Building (DSB) have been resolved much more quickly than anticipated.

All classes will return to their originally scheduled classrooms in DSB no later than Monday, January 15. However, some classes may resume in DSB as early as Thursday, January 11. If you have questions about how your class is impacted, please contact your instructor directly.

Non-academic and community bookings originally scheduled in DSB this week and next have been moved to alternative locations. Relocated events will continue in their new locations unless you hear otherwise from the Office of the Registrar and Enrolment Management (OREM).

Our gratitude goes out to Facilities Management for their efficient repairs, to OREM for their efforts to make alternative classroom arrangements, and to the many instructors and department staff who supported this process. Thanks as well to everyone impacted for your flexibility and understanding during this disruption.

Original notice: Jan. 6, 2024

The David Strong Building (DSB) has lost both heat and ventilation. The university is working to fix the issue as quickly as possible.

Repairs may take 7-10 days between Jan. 8-19 and colder temperatures are forecasted for the coming week. For health and safety reasons, all classrooms in DSB will be unavailable and the building will be locked until heat and ventilation in the building are restored.

The majority of classes scheduled to take place in DSB on Monday, January 8 have been moved online.

We are actively working to locate alternative spaces for classes; however, available classroom space is limited. Instructors who are able to move their classes online during the building closure (Monday, Jan. 8 to Friday, Jan. 19) are strongly encouraged to do so.

Students who have classes scheduled in David Strong will receive notification from their instructors about how their classes are impacted. If you have questions, please contact your instructors directly.

We apologize for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause.
