UVic closed Dec. 20 due to heavy snowfall

As of Dec. 20 at 4 p.m., the UVic campus remains closed due to heavy snowfall. We will share an update about Dec. 21 campus hours and exams by 6:30 a.m. tomorrow.
This decision will depend on:
- Whether BC Transit buses are running. As of 4 p.m. BC Transit bus service has been suspended.
- Whether additional snow accumulates overnight.
- Whether campus conditions are safe enough for face-to-face exams to proceed. Although crews are working to plow and salt priority areas in parking lots, pathways and building entrances, freezing temperatures overnight may make conditions too icy.

If your exam was cancelled today, information about the revised schedule is now available. Please stay safe, and reach out to your instructor or department if you have questions.

- Cove dining hall (in Student Housing Dining building 1), with reduced hours and stations
- Campus Security Services: Call 250-721-7599, or 9-1-1 in case of emergency.
- SupportConnect: free, confidential mental health service for UVic students (phone/online)
Closed
Most UVic offices and services are closed for in-person service, including:
- Student Wellness Centre
- Vikes winter rec camps
- CARSA and McKinnon athletics and recreation services
- Food outlets except for Cove dining hall
Many offices will maintain some services remotely. Please contact departments and units directly for details.

Due to heavy snowfall, the UVic campus is closed this morning and face-to-face exams are cancelled. Online exams will proceed as scheduled. An update about the status of campus and afternoon exams will be provided at 10 a.m.
Cancelled exams will be rescheduled in accordance with UVic’s Exam Cancellation policy. An updated exam schedule will be posted after 2 p.m. today. If you have questions about your exams, please get in touch with your instructor or the department offering the course.
We are actively monitoring weather conditions to determine when campus will be safe to open. UVic crews are working to clear roadways, paths and parking lots in order of priority.
Most BC Transit services are currently suspended.
Saanich Police and Victoria Police recommend not travelling this morning unless it is essential. If you need to travel or be on campus, please: plan ahead, allow extra time, wear appropriate clothing and footwear be prepared for snowy conditions.
