New Year's Courses Nourish the Mind and the Spirit

Continuing Studies Spring 2000 calendar available now

Take a stand against youth violence or take a trip to stalk dragonflies. Break bread and talk business or break through writer's block. These are just some of the opportunities presented in the Spring 2000 course calendar from the division of continuing studies. A wide variety of courses are available at convenient times and locations to make it easy to keep a resolution to learn something new in the new year.

Long-term certificate or diploma programs are designed to enhance professional development while other courses can deliver new knowledge or introduce new worlds in just an afternoon or an evening. Learn a new language, investigate new approaches to health and wellness, or plan a study tour. The new calendar offers something for everyone.

This spring's courses include:

Preventing Youth Violence: Deal Yourself In!--a workshop for professionals interested in creating safer environments for children and youth by teaching them how to respond effectively to prevent violence

Dragonflies of Local Wetlands--a combination classroom session and field trip to look at the life and habitats of these mysterious insects

UVic Power Lunch Business Seminar Program--sponsored by the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, this series of seminars provides an opportunity for business people to meet informally and discuss issues of common interest

Crafting Your Imagination--a day-long series of workshops for those interested in writing, illustrating, and publishing children's literature

Religion and the Millennium--a series of Sunday afternoon speakers discuss the traditions of the world's old and new religions
