Pink Shirt Day is on Feb. 28. UVic psychologist Bonnie Leadbeater is available to speak to media about bullying prevention. Since 2008, the CKNW Orphans’ Fund has hosted the annual anti-bullying campaign Pink Shirt Day in Vancouver. This year's focus is on cyber bullying.
The UVic-led victimization prevention program for children—Walk away, Ignore, Talk it out, Seek help (WITS)—received top marks earlier this month from Dalhousie University researchers, taking first place when compared to six other international bullying prevention programs. More than 600 schools across Canada have used the program.

Dr. Bonnie Leadbeater (psychology) and Dr. Anne Marshall (education) have been named the 2015 recipients of the Provost’s Engaged Scholar Award.
As co-creator of the anti-bullying program, WITS, (Walk Away, Ignore, Talk it Out, Seek Help) Dr. Bonnie Leadbeater has worked tirelessly with community partners, police officers, school staff and administrators, and parents to protect children from peer violence and victimization. On December 2, 2013 Leadbeater was presented with the CIHR Partnership Award by the Governor General of Canada in recognition of her leadership of the WITS programs.

WorkSafeBC has introduced new policies on workplace bullying and harassment. These policies set out requirements for employers, employees and supervisors to prevent and address workplace bullying and harassment. The policies took effect on November 1, 2013.
