UVic flags lowered in memory of six Muslim-Canadians

Flags at UVic have been lowered to half-mast in memory of the six Muslim-Canadians killed in the attack on the Islamic Cultural Centre in Quebec City on Jan. 29.

"This senseless attack, driven by hatred and intolerance, has affected all Canadians," says Cassels. "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who were killed or grievously injured. University flags have been lowered in memory of those who died and to express our solidarity with the values of diversity, inclusion and mutual respect that are such a fundamental part of our country and that are so central to the mission of our university. Canadians will not allow anyone or any act to change our deep commitment to those values."
