Apply to Media Studies 

Our interdisciplinary Media Studies programs are open to all students admitted to UVic. Our first cohort of students started in September 2023, and our programs have grown significantly since then.  

We offer a majorminor, general and certificate in Media Studies. 

How to Declare

Major/Minor/General

Current students who have completed a minimum of 12 course units can declare Media Studies as your major (BA), minor or general program. Use MyPage to declare the Media Studies credential.

For the major, use our planning worksheet to plan your courses. See our programs page for info on degree requirements.

Note that you will be able to submit your request for the major, minor or general starting 1 September 2026, when UVic's new calendar takes effect. 

Certificate

Current students can declare the Media Studies Certificate in additon to their degree program. Use the comments box on MyPage to declare the Media Studies credential.

Certificate (non-degree students)

For non-students who would like to take the certificate program as a standalone credential:
