Before I came to Canada in 2017, I’d taught English and Applied Linguistics in different contexts around the world. Here at UVic, I did my Ph.D. program in Educational Studies and worked as a full-time EAL Specialist at the Centre for Academic Communication, where I met with many fascinating students from diverse backgrounds and worked with wonderful colleagues, from whom I learned immensely.

As an educator, I am primarily interested in teaching and offering negotiated feedback to students on genre, framework, concision, and precision of academic writing. For that, I encourage students to involve themselves communicatively in the process of their learning, and this gives me insight to explore their underlying learning methods and offer them help to improve their ways of thinking, learning.

In my personal life, I enjoy reading books on the philosophy of education and applied linguistics as well as listening to music and podcasts.
