Course description

The goal of this course is to provide managers and supervisors with the skills, tools and resources they need to provide employees consistent and effective performance development feedback and support.
This course will review the performance development cycle at UVic, develop goal-setting skills in participants and present them the forms for monitoring progress on each performance cycle.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • List the benefits of supporting employees in their performance development process
  • Describe the performance development cycle (PDC) at UVic
  • Explain your role and responsibilities at UVic in supporting the performance development cycle of your employees
  • Apply good goal-setting process to help employees create meaningful goals
  • Design a learning plan that aligns with and supports employee goals.
  • Utilize strengths based and constructive approaches for providing employee feedback
  • Identify tools and resources that support your role and your employees (PDC forms and handouts), and where to find them.
