Albert Park, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in Health Informatics, specializing in social computing and health informatics. His research focuses on leveraging novel computational approaches to analyze social media data and online health communities. By examining user behavior, digital health interactions, and peer support networks, his work aims to address critical public health challenges such as mental health support, behavior surveillance, and HIV/PrEP interventions.  Dr. Park holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical and Health Informatics from the University of Washington and completed an NIH-NLM Postdoctoral Training Fellowship in Health Informatics at the University of Utah. He also holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Computer Science from Virginia Tech. Prior to joining UVic, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Software and Information Systems and the School of Data Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His research has been widely published in leading journals such as JAMIA, JMIR, and Computers in Human Behavior, and has received top paper honors from the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and the IEEE International Conference on Healthcare Informatics (ICHI).
