Biography
Jennifer Reed joined the UVic Gustavson School of Business as an Assistant Teaching Professor, where she teaches financial and management accounting at the undergraduate level. She holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Victoria and a Master of Education from Simon Fraser University, and began her career in public practice at KPMG LLP, where she earned her CA designation.
Before joining Gustavson, Jennifer spent more than 12 years at CPA Canada, including five years as Director of Education, where she led the development of the national Professional Education Program, which serves over 15,000 learners annually. She shaped the program's long-term direction, ensuring it adapted ahead of changes in both the profession and educational practice, and contributed to the vision for the next evolution of professional accounting education in Canada. She has taught at the post-degree professional education level since 2012.
Jennifer led CPA Canada's team in the co-development of the Indigenous Learners in Accounting Program, a partnership between the Aboriginal Officers Association of Alberta (AFOA Alberta), the CPA Western School of Business, and CPA Canada, working alongside Indigenous CPAs, subject matter experts, and community members. Her team received international recognition from the Textbook & Academic Authors Association, earning the Most Promising New Textbook Award for the Indigenous Learners in Accounting textbook series and the Textbook Excellence Award for a series of textbooks authored for the Professional Education Program and CPA Canada's preparatory courses.
Jennifer's current area of interest is the responsible integration of emerging technologies in professional accounting education, including how agentic AI might support students in constructing and navigating their own scaffolded learning pathways. Her work in educational technology has been recognized with industry awards. With teaching experience at the undergraduate, graduate, and post-degree professional levels, she brings together industry experience and educational design to build learning experiences grounded in professional practice and demonstrable student outcomes.
