Reporting to donors

We are committed to reporting back on the impact of your gift. 

The annual report to donors is sent to donors by email in June or July. If you are the main contact for an endowed fund, you will receive an endowment report annually in June or July.   

If you are the main contact for an award, you will receive notices of recipients/award dispersals annually. Some donors may also receive letter(s) from student recipients. 

Communication preferences

UVic Donor Relations sends quarterly donor e-newsletters and the annual report to donors via email. You can also expect the occasional appreciation phone call, postcard or letter.

Sometimes you will receive fundraising calls, emails or mail letting you know how you can support UVic students and programs through a donation.

Update your communications preferences or contact details (address, email, phone) by contacting Donor Relations.

Not receiving messages from us? Ensure you do by adding donorcare@uvic.ca to your email contacts or whitelist, and by keeping your contact details updated. 

Monthly donors

Monthly donors provide a continuous source of support through pre-authorized monthly donations. If you are interested in becoming a monthly donor, you can set up your monthly giving plan online.

To make changes to your monthly donations, update your details, or for questions about your monthly gift, contact Annual Giving at 250-472-4924 or giving@uvic.ca.

Consolidated tax receipts for monthly donations are sent out in February for donations made in the previous year. If you haven’t received your tax receipt, email Donor Relations and we will send you a copy.

Donor communities

The following programs recognize different donor communities. 

Ring Road Loyalty Circle (RRLC) 

You become a member of the RRLC when you give to UVic every year for three consecutive years. Just make a gift (whatever size) annually to maintain your membership in the circle.  

Each year, we send a postcard celebrating your number of years of consecutive giving. You will also receive e-newsletters so you can stay updated on how donations to UVic are making a difference.

Monthly Giving Club 

The Monthly Giving Club is a group of committed donors who make giving a part of their monthly budget.  

Once you set up a monthly gift, you’ll receive a tax receipt once a year (in February) for your annual contributions. You’ll also receive regular updates about what your donations are doing, as well as the donor e-newsletter.   

There are several advantages to setting up a monthly gift:

• convenient – your gifts will be automatically processed. You get one tax receipt each year for the total annual amount 
• budget-smart – break down a larger donation into monthly installments and make it part of your monthly budget 
• flexible – direct your gift to a specific area that’s meaningful to you 
• update or change your monthly gift at any time  

T.S. McPherson Legacy Society 

When you notify us of your intention to leave a gift in your will to UVic, you’re invited to join the T.S. McPherson Legacy Society. Sharing your gift intentions allows us to help you define your future gift’s impact, and to thank and recognize you now for your planned gift. You’ll also be invited to the T.S. McPherson Society appreciation event, bringing members together to recognize their commitment to future students, research and university growth. The event includes a presentation from a legacy award recipient.

Employee donors 

Employee donors are a special group within our larger donor community. You can expect the same updates and communications as all other donors. Sometimes we send information just to you! 

Our annual faculty and staff appreciation breakfast takes place in March.
