We transport about 20% of the natural gas consumed in the U.S. Our gas transmission and midstream pipelines cover about 24,000 miles (38,600 km) in 30 U.S. states, five Canadian provinces and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.
Our natural gas utility is the largest in North America by distribution volume and serves about 3.8 million residential, commercial, institutional and industrial customers in Ontario and Quebec.
We were an early investor in renewable energy. Our assets include wind, solar, geothermal and waste heat recovery facilities; collectively, those renewable energy projects in operation or under construction (and their 2,109 MW net generation capacity) are enough to meet the electricity needs of about 945,000 homes, based on net generation figures, which exclude our partners’ stake in the projects.
