Seona Lamb Scholarship
Seona Lamb Stephen established this scholarship in recognition of the vital role Nurse Practitioners play in providing empathetic, timely, and effective healthcare. Seona’s and her husband, John’s, support for this program is grounded in Seona’s wide-ranging career that includes executive leadership in acute and critical care, and more recently, a passionate focus on senior care.
With deep concern for the treatment of seniors—who are too often overlooked due to ageism—Seona hopes this scholarship supports students on their path to becoming Nurse Practitioners who lead with both empathy and analytical rigor.
Originally from Scotland, Seona trained in Edinburgh as both a Registered Nurse and a Midwife, beginning her career in community midwifery before transitioning to operating room nursing, a specialty she loved. After emigrating to Canada, she continued her OR work in Edmonton, Vancouver, and Victoria. She then shifted into nursing administration, culminating in her role as Director of Surgical Services for the Vancouver Island Health Authority (now Island Health), overseeing key surgical departments across two major hospitals.
Furthering her education with a Business Certificate while working part-time with the Victoria Hospital Foundation, Seona was eventually named CEO of a long-term care facility in Greater Vancouver. What began as a temporary role grew into a three-year commitment, followed by executive leadership of two private long-term care and retirement residences in Victoria. Her final professional chapter involved launching Carlton House of Oak Bay, where she remained CEO until retirement.
Seona views the Nurse Practitioner model as a perfect fit for the evolving healthcare landscape and hopes this scholarship plays a small part in helping recipients achieve their professional goals.
