Allana Lindgren International Graduate Student Scholarship in Fine Arts

Dr. Allana Lindgren is a scholar and educator who has dedicated her career to the advancement of the arts as a vital social and intellectual force. A proud alumna of the University of Victoria (Hons. BA ’95), Dr. Lindgren returned to her alma mater as a faculty member in the Department of Theatre, eventually serving as Chair before her appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Throughout her career, Dr. Lindgren’s research in Canadian theatre and dance history—and her leadership during global shifts like the COVID-19 pandemic—have centered on the idea that the arts are essential for fostering empathy, resilience, and innovative thinking.

The Allana Lindgren International Graduate Student Scholarship in Fine Arts was established to support the next generation of global creative leaders. Dr. Lindgren recognizes the unique financial and logistical hurdles faced by international students, as well as the positive impact of the diverse perspectives they bring to the UVic community. This gift reflects Dr. Lindgren’s commitment to ensuring that international graduate students in Fine Arts have the resources to complete their degrees and apply their scholarly and artistic passions to better their communities and the world at large.
