Ross and Stephanie Bailey and their three boys live in Vancouver, BC. Ross completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria in 1994, after which he went on to work for Ballard Power Systems as a test engineer. Ross obtained an MBA from Simon Fraser University in 2002 through the part time executive program. In 2008 Ross founded Greenlight Innovation where he served as President & CEO until he retired in 2024.
Ross is formerly Chairman of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association, as well as a former Board Member of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters Association, BC Chapter. Ross holds a number of patents pertaining to fuel cell manufacturing and testing. Ross is an avid sailor and car enthusiast.
