Stephen Bigsby grew up in British Columbia and graduated in economics and political science from the University of Victoria. He was student president in the 1966-1967 school year. Stephen began his career with the Trade Commissioner Service with postings in Ottawa and Milan, Italy, where he and Elisabetta met. He returned to Canada as Senior Industrial Commissioner (Europe) for Metropolitan Montreal’s Economic Development Agency, where he served as director from 1981-1995. He was Vice-President, Canadian Commercial Corporation, 1995-1997 and Executive Director, Association of Canadian Pension Management, from 2000–2006.
Elisabetta Bigsby is a corporate director. She was a member of the board of la Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec and Cogeco Inc for several years, stepping down in January 2017. She pursued her career at RBC Financial Group in a variety of senior business and strategy roles from 1977–2007. She was notably a member of the Executive Committee and the Chief Human Resources Officer from 2001–2007. She is a graduate from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Genoa in Italy.
