Awards and Scholarships
Applications from students are not required for scholarships in this section.
Unless otherwise indicated in the Terms of Awards, recipients are selected by the Senate Committee upon the recommendation of the Department of Sociology. Scholarships marked with an asterick (*) are administered by the University of Victoria Foundation.
These scholarships are governed by the general regulations for scholarships, medals and prizes.

Cecilia Benoit Sociology Honours Essay Award
An award is given to the student who submits the best Honours essay in Sociology 499. This award may be given to a graduating student.
Roy E. L. Watson Scholarship*
Value: Varies | Number: 2
Two scholarships are awarded to outstanding students who are continuing in a Major or Honours program in Sociology. Normally, one of these scholarships will be given to a student entering third year and one to a student entering fourth year.
Sarah D. Bakony Memorial Scholarship*

First disbursement September 2020
One or more scholarships are awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate students entering third or fourth year in the Department of Sociology. Approval of the recipients will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards upon the recommendation of the Department of Sociology.
