Youth in Care Tuition Award application now available

Are you a BC resident who is living or has lived as a youth in Care in BC? 

Youth in Care Tuition Award Details

Up to five awards are given to students in their first undergraduate degree program. To be eligible for this award, students must demonstrate financial need and be a resident of British Columbia, who is living or has lived as a youth in care in British Columbia under one of the following conditions as defined by the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA):

  • a Continuing Custody Order pursuant to sections 41 (1) (d), 42.2 (4) (d) or (7) or 49 (4), (5) or 10 (a) of the Act for a minimum of one year
  • an Agreement with Youth pursuant to section 12.2 of the Act
  • a Transfer of Custody Order pursuant to section 54.1 of the Act

The award covers up to 8 terms of funding or the terms required for completion of a first degree, whichever comes first, to cover actual tuition costs (excluding mandatory fees). Students who transfer to UVic from a university or college to complete their first undergraduate degree and meet all eligibility criteria will be considered for the award. Applicants must submit the application form, including the Release of Information consent form required to confirm eligibility, to Student Awards and Financial Aid by the application deadline of June 30.
