2018 Archaeological Field School in Barkley Sound, Western Vancouver Island

In 2016, anthropology professor Iain McKechnie instructed a six-week archaeological field school in Barkley Sound. UVic students dug at an old First Nations village and camped nearby, working with First Nations and other experts to learn about human history in the area. The field school was conducted in cooperation with the Tseshaht First Nation, Huu-ay-aht First Nations, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre. The field school is being offered again in summer 2018.
