MA student Matthew Bullock on the EPAB dig at the ancient site of Eleon, Greece

Dr. Brendan Burke (Greek & Roman Studies) appeared on CBC Radio's morning show "North by Northwest" with Sheryl MacKay on Saturday talking about UVic involvement in the ELEON dig with hands-on learning for field school students. Podcast

Matthew Bullock a UVIC Anthropology MA student had this to say about his experiences on the EBAP dig at the ancient site of Eleon.

"The field school at the Eastern Boeotia Archaeological Project (EBAP) provides students with the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with the techniques of archaeological excavation at the Greek site of ancient Eleon. Although the field school is run by Dr. Brendan Burke, chair of UVic's Greek and Roman Studies department, many students from the department of Anthropology have participated. Along with daily work in the field, students are immersed into the vibrant and welcoming social life of rural Greece. The local village of Arma is highly involved with the project, highlighting the connections between archaeological sites and the local populations who live near them today."
