WEC grid integration

The WCWI team, in collaboration with the Pacific Institute for Climate Science (PICS) and the Institute of Energy Systems UVic (IESVic), will integrate the technically possible wave resource (from numerical modeling) into currently functioning numerical models of the Vancouver Island and western continental North America electrical grid. These numerical simulations assess the how wave energy integration into the power grid on the KW, MW and GW scale may be achieved in order to realize a measure of the practical wave resource.

By feeding the WCWI with the best possible resource data and the best possible WEC performance predictions, the WCWI can be the “truth broker” for the WEC industry by illustrating, conclusively, the benefits of WEC technology wherever those benefits exist to be found.
