Samira received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Material Science and Engineering at Iran University of Science & Technology and Sharif University of Technology, respectively. Upon completion of her master’s, she began work in her related field as a Laboratory and R&D Manager, while concurrently teaching at a university.

Having had the chance to experience both industry and academia realms, she has once again returned to academia to pursue a PhD at the University of Victoria. She hopes to one day be able to lessen the gap between these two realms so that they are in unison.

Samira joined IESVic in June 2014, started her research under of supervision of Dr. Henning Struchtrup. Her research is focused on modeling of pressure retarded osmotic power plants with an emphasis on improving the efficiency of these types of power plants.

Her spare time activities consist of hiking, camping, tennis, and spending time with friends.
