UVic’s research chair in Indigenous mental health
The Ring
With a Sept. 22 naming ceremony, the inaugural position of Chief Mungo Martin Research Chair in Indigenous Mental Health is held by Emily Haigh, with funding by a $1.5M gift from Bruce McKean.

UVic is grateful to the family of Chief Mungo Martin for the honour of the title of the research chair in Indigenous mental health. The naming ceremony was held Sept. 22 at Mungo Martin House.
New and returning deans
The Ring
UVic welcomed several new deans in 2021, in human and social development, social sciences, engineering and computer science, graduate studies, and humanities—as well as an acting dean in law. Dean searches are currently underway in fine arts, education, and business, with new leadership expected in 2022.

UVic welcomes several new deans this year. Helga Hallgrímsdóttir as Dean of the Faculty of Human and Social Development, Lois Harder in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Mina Hoorfar in the Faculty of Engineering.
