New teacher fosters inclusive education

The Ring

For Dominique Rochefort, a citizen of the Métis Nation, the journey to become an empowered teacher was mined with self-doubts and life challenges. Rochefort graduates with a UVic BEd in elementary teacher education—and will receive a Maxwell Cameron award from the BC Teachers’ Federation for the outstanding quality of her practice teaching, her top GPA and engagement in social justice.

President Cassels featured in Advocate magazine

President Jamie Cassels, QC was featured on the July 2018 cover of the Advocate magazine, a resource for lawyers and legal scholars throughout British Columbia. The cover of each issue is a unique work of art and each portrait features an individual who has had an impact on the BC legal community.

2015 Schulich Leadership Scholars

The Ring

Two recent high school graduates, from Victoria and Surrey respectively, have been selected to receive this year’s prestigious Schulich Leadership Scholarship for their undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria. Created in 2011 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Seymour Schulich, the scholarships are awarded annually to 40 students in Canada pursuing undergraduate studies in STEM subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The scholarship for engineering studies is $80,000 and $60,000 for the other areas of study.
