COVID-19: Summer session offerings (May-August, 2020)

A message from Valerie S. Kuehne, Vice-President Academic and Provost

Dear students, faculty and staff,

In response to the extraordinary circumstances we find ourselves in now and looking forward, the University of Victoria is working to move summer session course offerings online, allowing students to continue to progress through their degree programs.

All instruction this summer will be offered remotely. There will be no face-to-face instruction or in-person assessments, including exams. For graduate students, there will be no in-person meetings with supervisors or committees and all oral exams will be held via video conferencing. Students will not need to be on campus.

Based on information available at this time, the university plans to remain open and operational throughout the summer, continuing to offer student support services remotely, including academic advising, counselling services, international student services, health services, and more. We will take advice and guidance from governments and health authorities concerning the health and safety of our community and re-open in-person services as appropriate.

Faculty and instructors can access online teaching supports, including how to accommodate students with disabilities, through the Teach Anywhere website.

Students are encouraged to register for summer courses, and we look forward to welcoming you to our virtual academic community starting in May.

Sincerely,

Valerie S. Kuehne, PhD
