UVic students, alumni make a difference through volunteering

Over 220 University of Victoria students and alumni will fan out across the region on Saturday, Sept. 27, to volunteer in 19 local organizations as part of Project Serve Day.

Coordinated by UVic and Volunteer Victoria, Project Serve introduces students to the opportunities and fulfillment of community service learning, by volunteering for the day in diverse areas such as organic farming, therapeutic riding, elder care, addiction/poverty services, among others.

This will be the third Project Serve Day for UVic, and the biggest one yet with the participation of alumni for the first time.

“The goal of Project Serve Day is to connect our enthusiastic and energetic students and alumni with community groups who need our help,” said Robin Goodall-Copestake, UVic’s residence education coordinator. “This will be the first opportunity for many UVic students to get involved in the larger community that surrounds our campus, and we hope it won't be the last!”

Project Serve Day is sponsored by Hot House Pizza and Dairyland.
