The following University of Victoria expert is available to media to discuss her recent study about the connection between mothers, sleep and postpartum anger—the subject of Give the gift of sleep to moms with babies this Mother’s Day, published in The Conversation Canada today.

Christine Ou (Nursing) is an expert in maternal mental health and postpartum health. Ou can discuss her findings which show that mothers with older babies (6-12 months of age) are more likely to be angry and depressed when they are sleep deprived. She can also speak to recommendations to improve maternal-infant sleep, acknowledging that it’s harder to parent and to be emotionally available to children when angry or depressed.
