OVERVIEW: Fees & Subsidies

Moving Trans History Forward 2025 (MTHF25) is a hybrid event, taking place both in person at the University of Victoria and online from March 27th to March 30th, 2025. For additional conference details, please visit our About page.

FEES
  • All registrations (except one-day) include access to ALL conference events, including the opening reception, concurrent sessions, keynote speakers, featured panels, and digital posters. Only in-person registrations include food.
  • Because the cost of everything has gone up, the 2025 conference will mark the first time in seven years that we need to raise registration fees in order to cover our expenses and continue to be able to offer reduced registration fees (subsidy) for people who need them.
LOW-INCOME REGISTRATION
  • If you are unable to pay the "General" registration fee, and your circumstances are not listed below under "Who are subsidies for?" you may choose to pay a "Low-income" registration fee.
SUBSIDIES
  • We will try to provide subsidies to all who need them, until the money runs out.
  • Priority will be given to people making presentations at the conference.
  • Who are subsidies for?
    • One of the following:
      • Unemployed.
      • Part-time employed or student with low income, and your employer/university will not assist with your conference registration.
      • Full-time employed or student with minimum wage, and your employer/university will not assist with your conference registration.
      • Fixed income insufficient to cover living expenses.
      • None of the above, but extenuating circumstances (e.g. exceptional health expenses, dependent family members).
  • If you are one of the people who a subsidy is for, and you require a registration subsidy, please select the "Request Subsidy" option below and fill out the request form.
  • We will review registration subsidy requests and do our best to contact you within seven business days.

STEP 1: IN PERSON (includes online access) or ONLY ONLINE

Decide if you want to attend in person or only online. Both in-person and online registrants will have access to the same content simultaneously.

  • IN-PERSON REGISTRANTS will have access to both the on-campus experience and the online portal, offering the option to attend some of the conference in person and some of it online. They will also have access to all food throughout the conference (learn more about food).
  • ONLINE-ONLY REGISTRANTS will have access to the conference only via Zoom Events, with no food or in-person access.

STEP 2: DOWNLOAD ZOOM (unless you already have it)

We are using Zoom's conferencing software (Zoom Events). All you need to participate in the online conference is your regular Zoom account. If you are familiar with Zoom, you will be comfortable using Zoom Events.

  • We will use the email address associated with your Zoom account. You will be sent a Zoom Events link a few days prior to the conference. You will use this link to access the conference via your Zoom app or Internet browser. Be sure to update your browser and Zoom app to the most current version before joining the conference (DOWNLOAD ZOOM).
  • All registrants (including in-person registrants) may use Zoom Events to review the conference schedule and other information, including presenter bios and abstracts.
    • A limited number of printed programs will be available for in-person attendees.
  • To view the conference on Zoom Events, a Wi-Fi connection will work; however, a hardwired internet-connected device or computer will give you a better experience.

STEP 3: REGISTER

Clicking on a registration type below (except "Request Subsidy") will take you to our Eventbrite page where you will need to click "Reserve a spot."

  • We are not in control of the other recommended events advertised on the Eventbrite website.
  • If you wish to purchase multiple registrations, you will need to complete each transaction separately as each registrant must answer a short list of questions prior to checking out.
  • The "Economic Ally" option is available to those who can pay more and wish to help cover the cost of a registration for someone who needs it.
  • Prices on our Eventbrite are in Canadian dollars and include the registration cost as well as ticket processing fees (3% Eventbrite fee of ticket’s face value + $2.29 Eventbrite flat fee + 2.9% credit card fee of transaction value) and 5% tax (GST).
